She has tested the raving waves of Victoria Bay Beach in George and international waves of Barra da Tijuca Beach in Rio de Janeiro, where she was placed third in the senior championships.

Born in the City of Gold and raised in Victoria Bay in George, the Western Cape, Buitendag, is a surfing champion and ranked number eight in the world.
She started surfing at the age 7 and at the age of 11 she started to take the sport seriously by entering competitions and winning all of the surfing games she participated in. Buitendag had no idea she was falling in love with the sport. In 2006, at the age of 14 she won the Mr Price surfing competition. By the age of 16, she won an international surfing competition in Australia.
Buitendag told Top Billing that at the age of 16 she decided to take surfing on as a career, after a lot of soul searching. This Johannesburg beauty passed matric with an 75 percent aggregate. She is focusing on surfing at the moment and will resume her tertiary education after the competitions slowed down.
In her private time, she enjoys taking road trips. In her personal blog www.BiancaBuitendag.com she said “As a child, I had countless memories of road trips. My parents were very found of taking road trips and was engraved in my childhood. Whether it was chasing swells or chasing wild animals”.
Buitendag will be travelling to France for four months to compete in a surfing competition.
“My favourite place in the whole wide world! I’m heading to France and will be away for 4 months, so I decided to take some pictures, just in case I get homesick”.
She is cemented her growing reputation as one of the world’s top female surfers after she won the Vans US Open Surfing Pro Junior Women’s title in front of massive crowds at Huntington Beach in California.
Buitendag’s passion, drive and dedication is what makes her an exceptional surfer and amazing women. She is riding the South African Waves high and doing it in style.
