Today, all eyes will be on Parliament as they take part in the Vote of No Confidence against President Jacob Zuma. While many believe that Jacob Zuma will survive this vote, there is still a chance he may not.
In case he doesn’t survive the vote, this is what to expect:
- The president and all cabinet ministers must resign.
- The speaker of parliament, Baleka Mbete, will become the acting president until a new president is chosen.
- Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng must set a date on which the National Assembly will elect a new president.
Internationally renowned Constitutional Law expert Professor Pierre de Vos was on East Coast Radio to talk about what can be expected from the vote of no confidence against President Jacob Zuma, and exactly what it all means.
