Our latest on the series of youth news reports that get broadcast on news channel, eNCA, focuses on the South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU)’s proposal to change South African history text books. The union wants, among other things, that the books state explicitly that Mandela was a product of the ANC. Some teachers, students and the DA are against this proposal as they feel it will turn history into political propaganda, the way apartheid did.

SADTU would also like to make history a compulsory subject for high school pupils.
