Privy to spells of frequent depression ? A dose of Teknotribe will seriously do the trick. It’s couple of hours after the party and I am still floating in a bubble of psychedelic pleasure.  It’s been a tug of war between settling down and remerging with reality and re-living what I am sure many have identified as a stellar production by both Teknotribe and {psy.ology}.

Take heed, this review attempts to capture the incredible experience accurately .

Teknotribe’s 10th Birthday Bash featuring Perfect Stranger, held at Mihouse in Selby, this past Saturday 6 July owned the night! If you weren’t there , new to psytrance and techno or not , you missed out!

I naturally gravitated towards the trance floor , hosted by {psy.ology} records: “ the joint forces of Teknotribe (JHB) and PsynOpticz Productions (CT)”. The evening started off with me promising myself that I was there to work ,observe and take photographs so I found a safe spot at the back of the dance floor.

The sets all fused together so comfortably . I struggled to give myself a minute to take a breather- it was near impossible to be still, from inception to the end. Stereotype (PsynOpticz) set the mood; a steady warm up leading into Manifesto Vs Thalia which was followed by Dre’Ama’s jamming set –at this point I was sold . Bionic ({psy.ology}) followed by Switcache (PsynOpticz) sets  kept driving the force with high power beats.  Killer B’s set pulled me to the front of the stage after which Digital Dream transported the crowd right through to the psychedelic twist at the end: Thorne vs Uncle Ruckus. An enlightening music experience. The music and decor played a huge part but I feel the crowd was a key contributing factor. Joburg psytrance troopers , much respect!

When I indulged in the Techno Floor vibe , there too, the crowd was completely engulfed in the musical experience. International headline act, Perfect Stranger (Israel) , delivered on all fronts!

A celebration of a decade of existence for Teknotribe. I can safely say Teknotribe is by far the most edgy ten year old I know!  Happy Birthday Teknotribe , I look forward to celebrating more birthdays with you. A massive thank you to Nick Grater, one of South Africa’s  leading music ambassadors.
