Outdoor activity needn’t ruin your MAC-face!
With easily one of the sweetest climates on earth, South African locals are giving it to the Sunday blues with some seriously fresh daytime parties.
Because they start so early (o hey sunshine!) chances are you’ll be in bed by midnight! Manic Monday, fall back.
LIVE’s Killer Sunday Guide
STEP 1. EAT
Momma always told you! A hearty breakfast will kick-start your metabolism and give you that chutzpah to shine. On a liquid lunch Sunday, the stomach-lining action is especially essential.
Live loves Maboneng’s new Mama Mexicana for their all-day (no alarm necessary!) delicious Mexican breakfasts – think heuvos rancheros and an unbeatable breakfast tortilla. Prices are super reasonable and service is quick and friendly. Easy.
Elsewhere try Europa Cafe franchises – another breakfast til 10pm champ.
For the budget conscious and homey-at-heart, dip into your inner domestic god(dess) with a simple and tasty omelette, frittata or scramble. Breakfast in bed might just take that one-night into a whole-life scenario…
STEP 2. DRESS
Daytime jams offer club-style kings and queens a whole new challenge, and Sundays have developed a reputation for style throw downs.
Ditch anything black, grey, brown or otherwise dull.
Think: dungarees, onesies and rompers; hi-waist shorts and crisp cotton dresses; nautical inspiration and candy cane colour palettes; bold accessories, killer heels. Google your favourite designer’s Resort Collection 2014 for fash-inspiration.
Strictly no jeans! Daisy Dukes welcome. Strictly no cargo shorts! Tailored options oh-so welcome.
Don’t forget that suntan lotion! An SPF15 might suffice if you’ve got more melanin, but even then it’s vital to reapply. Live especially loves Palmer’s Coco Butter Formula Mositurizing Gel Oil (SPF15) available at Dis-Chem stores. The yummy chocolately sent and subtle wet-look finish are adequately foxy, while the nourishing formula will keep you protected.
STEP 3. STEP OUT
JHB: Sunday Jive
CPT: Cold Turky
Get there early for your Randela’s worth.
STEP 4. HYDRATE
Ditch your go-to tipple and surprise yourself with something fruity and topped by a mini-umbrella – also available in ‘virgin’. So good for your Instagram-folio.
Remember to drink at least one glass of water for every other drink. In the daytime heat, the effects of dehydration can be helluva party-pooping.
If you’re with a group of friends, nothing says Sunday like a juicy ice-bucket. Bar queues be damned!
STEP 5. BOOGY
Up, down, left, right, on the table, on the bar, with your girls or totally solo – work it like its 1999.
Monday can wait.
