Sive Msolo is an entertainer, a song-writer, and a founding member of Lingo Media. He is what he is and does not try to be someone else. He is a humble go-getter that is making waves and selling his music worldwide. Msolo grew up in Khayelitsha with his aunt. While he grew up in a household that was full of love and respect, he was a problematic boy growing up. This taught him the importance of family, peace and acceptance.
Deejaying was not his first love. He had a studio at his grandmother’s house in Gugulethu, and Bush Radio needed a sound engineer. “It was a calling,” he said. They loved his voice and his talkativeness. Next thing he knew, he was a Bush Radio presenter.
Sive has faced many challenges. He overcomes them by being positive and staying true to himself. As a Bush Radio presenter, he has to remain innovative so as to entertain the audience. There are lots of radio presenters doing the same thing as him. He has to maintain his current listenership, while trying to draw a new audience. A personal challenge of his is keeping the right company of friends around him.
He founded Sive Msolo Production 86 because he did not want to be told what to do when it comes to his music. “I had to come up with something new. The industry is full of bubble gum music. [For me,] it is all about making music that will last not music, that people will get bored with after six months,” he explained. It is also for this reason that he is not signed to any label. He is all about deep house and nothing else. Additionally, he’s been working with a journalist friend at a company called Lingo media, feeding the youth positive stories in order to uplift them.
Sive Msolo has no DJ alias, because he is himself. He is planning to extend his label that is currently registered to 50-plus music stores worldwide and on top of all that he is currently working on his clothing line and building his brand.
