Wendy is a 22-year-old fashionista who is the founder of Styled Timeless by Wendy – an advertising agency that focuses on fashion brands – that emerged with the help of the Ekurhuleni Municipality’s Economic Development department (One of its mandate is to help young creative entrepreneurs to plough back to their communities through their talents). Wendy’s agency offers services in fashion solutions, such as styling, fashion tutorials and workshops as well as implementing marketing solutions to fashion and lifestyle brands via her social media platforms.

“As a young brand advertising agency, we work hard to create employment and bridge the gap of unemployment among the youth in the country,” says Wendy. And as I was styling her I asked her how many people has she managed to employ so far? “Five,” she tells me enthusiastically. In fashion circles, Wendy is known for her big hair, big attitude and for her love for muted tones such as black, grey and white when fashionably hitting the streets of Johannesburg.

Where do you see your brand in five years’ time? I ask her while she’s having here make-up retouched on shoot: “I see my brand collaborating with known and respected brands like MRP etc., handling shoots and continuing to provide fashion solutions and implementing relevant marketing strategies suitable for different brands. I really believe my brand is growing and I am quite happy about that”.   

And how do you distinguish yourself from other influencers? “Styled Timeless by Wendy distinguishes itself through its exciting and fresh marketing and promotional plan. We run intense, calculated and relentless campaigns that enable the brand to earn massive respect and of course, revenues through the growing popularity of the various services we offer”.

TM: What are your thoughts on the latest “Think out loud” range?

WN: The range is very colourful; people that love colour will fall in love with it. I like personally. The colours blend well together nicely.

TM: What was your favourite outfit during the photoshoot and why?

WN: I really loved the white blazer and jeans combo, because it showed off my personal style well. The outfit has a boyish element to it and there is so much fun with the ensemble. I would like to think Rihanna would wear it too.

TM: How would you describe your personal style?

WN:  Very ‘tomboyish’ and cool. I love a raw look mixed with artistic element to it.

TM: Who inspires you in this creative industry?

WN: The I See A Different You (Fhatuwani and Rendani Mukheli and Vuyo Mpantsha) guys and Nick Wooster, they ooze so much cool.

TM: With autumn here, what do you think is the must-have item for this season?

WN: A beautiful navy coat as well as knee-high boots for the ladies. Street style is taking over and I predict  that the colour palettes that will dominate the season are navy blue, greys and blacks.”
