Livity Africa’s VIP Campaign, a youth politics platform that found success engaging young people in Joburg and Cape Town with the national elections in 2014, is now expanding to the Eastern Cape in the lead up to the 2016 local government elections.

The VIP Campaign is a non-partisan movement of young people – stationed inside parliament and on the ground – looking to take over the political agenda in order to push for youth-influenced change on key issues. As part of the mission, we’re extending to the Eastern Cape and zoning in on student-funding body, NSFAS. Is NSFAS meeting its mandate of heightening access to high education? Are young people in the Eastern Cape serviced well by the funding body? We want the voices of young people in the Eastern Cape province to become a part of the conversation on how to fix NSFAS before taking their issues to parliament.

We will be stationed in the Eastern Cape from 07 – 11 September 2015 and from 10 – 11 September we will run two VIP Debate Club events at the University of Fort Hare (Alice Campus) discussing the truths, myths and lies surrounding tertiary education and NSFAS; before discussing ways to make sure the student-funding program works for You(th).
