Live Magazine’s Creative Sessions launch in Cape Town at Open Design Festival
British Council Connect ZA & Live SA, in association with Creative Nestlings, present:
A Live Creative Session: “Design: Not for young people?”
August 28th, 3pm-5pm,
City Hall, Cape Town, as a part of the Open Design Festival.
Is the world of design a closed shop for young people? Too elite, too exclusive and too expensive? And what the hell is design anyway?
The event will feature a series of presentations by young creatives working in various design fields, as well as a panel discussion with industry experts exploring why the world of design should be relevant to young people, and how you can break into an industry that often seems imposing.
Facilitator: Karen Stewart of Cape Craft and Design Institute
Panelists:
Michael Pearson (Creative Group Head, 140BBDO)
Daniel Ting Chong: (freelance illustrator, designer and artist)
Anthea Duce: (graphic designer/project management)
Gugulethu Mhlungu (Stakeholder Engagement Manager, WDC2014)
Prof. Mugendi K. M’Rithaa (Postgraduate Studies in Design, CPUT).
Presenters: Anees Petersen and Sean Shuter of fashion label Unknown Union, and illustrator/customizer Atang Tshikare of Zabalazaa Designs.
Launched earlier in 2013 at The Alex Theatre in Johannesburg, Live Magazine’s monthly Creative Sessions have provided a platform for up‐and‐coming creatives to engage with established industry professionals and arts practitioners, receive creative and career advice and build professional relationships. Building on the success of this well‐attended series, Live Magazine is excited to announce the first Creative Session in Cape Town, presented in association with Creative Nestlings, for the Open Design Festival.
Creative Sessions are brought to you in partnership with The British Council’s Connect ZA Programme, connecting the creative communities of the UK and South Africa.
