“These are the first exclusive pictures of the revered statesman after his first recent hospitalisation.” the SABC journalist Yolisa Njongela states. The footage crudely displays the ailing 94 year old Nelson Mandela surrounded by President Jacob Zuma escorted by his high-ranking members of the ANC including Cyril Ramaphosa and Baleka Mbete.  The visit at his Houghton home earlier that day showed a frail Mandela being flashed abruptly by cameras whilst his fellow ANC comrades flashed colgate smiles.

Who is Nelson Mandela in good health for? This question is simmering in social media hotsprings all over South Africa and ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu answered  that “The ANC had invited only the SABC to avoid “making Mandela uncomfortable”. We did not invite the whole crew, because we care about Madiba. The SABC even distributed the images to other broadcasters. This was in the public interest”.” He continued to say , “Our people have not seen Madiba in many years. Now they have seen him open and close his eyes…. We are happy with his health. He is no longer a young man.”

Even with that in comment, the outrage continues on scoial networks like twitter and the backlashing is not about to simmer down. Is South Africa expecting Nelson Mandela to live forever? This clip should really argue otherwise…
