I live in Khayelitsha, and I’m a smoker. Me and some of my friends face constant judgement from the men in my community, including from those who themselves smoke. Some of my girl friends (who did not want to speak on video) have also been beaten up by their boyfriends for the habit. Here, I voice my views on this prejudice and double standard and I go out to find out why these men feel they can police women’s bodies and habits.
