H&M announced their first African collaboration with South African designer Palesa Mokubung’s “Mantsho” label. There is no better time than now for H&M to start working on collaborations and tap into current trends. Cross-collaborations not only allow for brands to be more inclusive and diverse in their clothing collections, but they also allow for a culture of creativity, empowerment and cooperation instead of competition.
Mantsho is known for its edgy designs, structured pieces as well as its bold and striking silhouettes.
“I am so excited to finally announce my collaboration with H&M to create Mantsho x HM! This is truly a dream come true for me. To be the first South African designer to have their own collection in H&M South Africa stores & exclusive H&M flagship store worldwide is quite an amazing feeling. This is such an exciting period of my life and I can’t wait to share it with u (sic),” wrote Palesa on her Instagram post.
The collection will be available in all South African stores including a selection of flagship stores in the United States of America, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Portugal, The Netherlands, Belgium, Mexico, Chile and Israel.
Although H&M and Palesa haven’t given much away on what the collaborated collection will look like, the behind-the-scenes images give us a glimpse into a collection of ornate and vibrant prints, with her signature eye-catching and commanding silhouettes
“Palesa is such an inspiring talent and personality. We love how she works with colour, print and silhouettes enhancing the female shape in a flattering and playful way.
