The original Air Max 1 hit retail shelves on this day in 1987, now in honour of the original release date, the brand has announced the very first Air Max Day.

This very sleek brand, design by Tinker Hatfield (NIKE’s vice president of design and special projects), changed the sneaker world forever when it marked the intersection of innovation and style. This year, Nike is making an official holiday out of that day with the release of the Nike Air Max 1 “Air Max Day”, a reprisal of the original Hatfield silhouette.

Nike Sportswear also has a new mini-site of the iconic Nike Air Max just to give folks a quick history lesson, from “The one that changed everything.” to the “Ultralight support meets maximum cushioning…” The Air Max 1 “Air Max Day” release sees a volt colour treatment applied to the original Air Max, alongside the date 3.26 emblazoned across the tongue tab.

Nike Air Max is surely here to stay even Twitter can testify to that – #AirMax
