On Heritage Day (also referred to by its lesser known name Braai Day), I attended the first ever Colour Run Johannesburg (the happiest 5K on the planet) inspired by the Hindu color festival. The event was held at Roosevelt High School in Emmarentia. The run kicked off at 10:00 a.m. but the participants arrived an hour early in order to collect their color run race packs. The packs contained t-shirts, colorful socks and headbands.
Color Run JHB saw a plethora of people from different walks in attendance, ages ranging from six months to 80-years-old. Everyone – young and old – gathered for this one amazing day to colour each other happy with the most amazing array of powder colours.
The run started outside the school yard gates and along the way there pit stops where people got splashed with different colours.
It was evident the run was enjoyed by all with participants young and old crossing the finish lines with big multicoloured smiles on their faces!
