Fashion Hits From the BET Awards
The 2019 BET Awards really brought out the best of fashion last night from our favorite stars. Trends included ankle boots, bright colors, suits and white dresses. What we love about the BET Awards is the semi-formal dress code that lets stars come out dressed in exciting and vibrant outfits. We rounded up some of our favorite fashion pieces from yesterday’s event below.
1. Lizzo’s Mahogany Magic dress
Houston born singer and rapper, Lizzo, showed up to the BET Awards wearing a statement figure-hugging, “wood-grain” mini-dress, with puffed up sleeves that certainly managed to turn heads on the red carpet. From top to bottom, the singer rocked the dress by accentuating it with a bold saucer headpiece and ankle boots to match. We loved how she managed to make everything match without it looking too overdone or cliche.
- Karrueche Tran suited up in bright yellow
Karrueche Tran brightened up the red carpet with a neon yellow suit that she matched up with hot purple heels at the BET Awards. While neon seemed to be one of the trends of the day, with stars like Ella Mai and Cliff Vmir also rocking neon suits, we believe Karrueche definitely wore it best. The outfit is very much reminiscent of 1980’s fashion with the defined shoulder pads colorful hoops, ornate hand jewellery, and daring red nails added as accessories. While the idea of it sounds a bit overwhelming, the outcome is a sleek and refreshing summer look that gets a big round of applause from us.

We love Jidenna’s outfit for pretty much the same reasons we love Karrueche’s. Jidenna’s fashion piece is super eye-catching, while giving off chic vibes that are really cool for the summer. The outfit is an ode to the “senator style” often worn by men and women in Nigeria. While these outfits are often in dark and sombre colors, Jidenna put on a twist on it by wearing it in bright yellow.

If there’s anyone who really knows how to rock classy and sexy at the same time, it has to be Taraji P. Henson.She stepped onto the BET stage wearing a black sparkly number with a slit that revealed some gorgeous legs. We totally stan!
- Parker Mckenna Posey
Former child star of “My Wife and Kids” sitcom, hit the red carpet with this fun and quirky outfit yesterday. At first glance, Parker’s dress is really dramatic, but her pink pyramid-shaped shades offset the seriousness of the dress and made the look more eccentric and fun. We give this one a thumbs up.
