Overwatch officially launches today. Now grab your console and unleash the hero inside of you. Picture the future world, where humans and robots coexist. Peace among the species’ is short lived and the world begins to fall into chaos. A group of elite soldiers from around the globe band together to restore peace and they are known as Overwatch.

Whether you’re an experienced gamer or a newbie, if you enjoy objective based team shooter genres, then you should try out Overwatch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Blizzard Entertainment have created a video game that allows you be a hero. With 21 unique heroes to choose from , all boasting different strengths, weaknesses and play styles.

Each of the heroes can be grouped into one of four distinctive roles; offense, defense, tank and support. Offensive heroes, such as Tracer, Pharah and Reaper have speed and firepower on their side. They can isolate the enemy and tear apart their defenses. They are best at being first to a fight and keeping the pressure on until the enemy is defeated.

Defensive heroes like Hanzo, Mei and Bastion specialise in guarding locations and splitting up enemy teams by laying devastating traps, building powerful turrets, revealing enemies to teammates and even altering the terrain of the battlefield. Heroes who fulfil the tank role like Reinhardt, Zarya and Winston are best suited for disrupting enemies whilst leading the charge. They have the ability to protect allies with their shields, damage barriers and sheer projectile absorption. These heroes are less susceptible to combat and can withstand an attack that could easily kill heroes in other roles, making them great for the frontlines of battle.

Lastly, heroes that fall under the support role, such as Lucio, Mercy and Zenyatta act as the healers and augmenters. Generally weak in solo combat but great in providing utility to other teammates. They can teleport players and increase team movement speed and even resurrect fallen members of the team. A good support can keep the team alive and keep you in the game for longer.

Different heroes can complement the team you assemble in a multitude of ways. Every hero brings something different to the table and the interesting part is that heroes can be swapped out and you can have a new line up at any time in the game and pose new threats to the enemy with this surprise element.
