Now in its 14th year, the African Hip Hop Indaba hit the cold streets of the inner city this past weekend. Activities on Friday night at the Iconic Lounge included a B-Boy battle, an emcee battle, and a couple of performances from local acts. At stake for the night was a spot at the UK B-Boy Championships and a R5000 prize for the wining emcee. B -Boy The Curse took the B-Boy challenge and emcee Hemelbesem walked away with the R5000 prize for the emcee battle. A few glitches in between the performances revealed poor organisation of the event. It was the B-Boy battles and performances from Andy Mkosi, Nama Xam and Perspektif, and Cream that made the night for me. Peep the gallery above for a selection of pictures from the event.
