- Nirox Sculpture Park
Nirox sculpture park, which lies 45 minutes away from the centres of Johannesburg and Tshwane, is a beautiful and scenic private nature reserve which currently exhibits a vast array of remarkable sculptures by artists such as Mary Sibande, Esther Mahlangu and Zanele Muholi. The stunning park is situated in the centre of Cradle of Humankind heritage site in Krugersdorp.
Nirox often hosts various events each weekend, such as concerts, conversations, and open days. General tickets for an open day are a R100 per person with a R25 discount for students who bring their student cards.

- Lekgalameetse
Lekgalameetse is a destination for all the adventurous and hearty backpackers out there. If you’re looking to explore and enjoy nature while breaking a sweat, then this is the place for you. Try to imagine the beauty of unguided trails through lush greenery, glistening rivers, waterfalls and spectacular scenery and you’ll get a picture of Lekgalameetse. It’s positioned within the Wolkberg Wilderness Area with the nearest city being Polokwane.

- Gamkaberg Nature Reserve
Gamkaberg, a World Heritage Site, is a great place to relax with family and friends to get your mind off things. One of its closest cities is Cape Town and if you’re interested in visiting this splendid site you have the option of enjoying a mini-hike, using the picnic and braai facilities there, or simply learn more about the place by looking through the information centre.
The conservation fee upon entrance is R40 per adult, R20 per child, and R200 for group activities.

- Cradle Moon
Cradle Moon, is a wonderful game lodge and restaurant that’s wonderful to visit if you’re interested in having a peaceful, yet fun time eating out with friends and family near a sparkling pool, some pretty scenic views, while being surrounded by animals like zebras, springbok, and even giraffes. It’s also the perfect place for mountain biking, walking and game drives if you want explore the wildlife more.
The conservation fee is R30 and meal prices start from R50 at the restaurant.

- The Owl House
Last on the list of places to visit, but certainly not least, is the weird and wonderful Owl House in Graaff Reinet, approximately two hours away from the city of Port Elizabeth. This strangely beautiful place is a home which used to belong to Helen Martins, an artist who decorated her home with various sculptures of “bottle-skirted hostesses, mermaids, camels and pilgrims, all journeying to a mystical east”. The interior of the house is a bright and magical site that will certainly fascinate its visitors.
