Thuso Mbedu lands an Emmy nomination

by: Sandile Ngwenya - 28 September 2017

While some actors work their whole lives to get an Emmy nomination, it took Thuso Mbedu exactly 3 years and one month. She has been nominated for the Best Performance by an Actress for her role as Winnie on Mzansi Magic’s drama Is’thunzi

The 26-year-old actress first appeared on our screens in August 2014 when she played Boni Khumalo on Saints and Sinners. Since then, she has moved from small to big roles on our television screens, featuring in popular shows such as Isibaya and Scandal.

For the Best Performance by an Actress category, the Wits University graduate is up against Adriana Esteves(Brazil), Anna Friel(United Kingdom) and Sonja Gerhardt (Germany).

Thuso has a degree in Dramatic Arts,  in 2012 she also attended an acting class at the Stella Adler Studio in New York.

She will be returning to America in two months time for the 2017 Emmy Awards which will be held on the 20th of November 2017 at the Hilton New York Hotel. We wish her all the best on her nominee.
