5 Reasons why Cassper Nyovest’s #FillUpFNBStadium concert was a success
by: Lilita Gcwabe - 5 December 2017
Although Cassper didn’t fill up the FNB Stadium to its full capacity, it would be unreasonable to believe the concert was unsuccessful. With a target of 75 000 people to attend, an amazing number of 68 000 tickets were sold.
On the 2nd of December 2017, we were stunned and inspired by Cassper’s relentless ambition and drive.
Here are 5 reasons out of many, why the concert was a success!
1. He made history
Nyovest is the first South African artist to break the Eminem record of the most attended Hip-Hop concert of all time, with Eminem at 65 000.
2. An incredible performance stage design
Throughout the concert campaign, Nyovest promised that he would bring ‘Mufasa’ to the fans and he did just that. His stage design was impeccable with 2 large lion sculptures on either side of the stage, accompanied by a performance in a Tswana attire, which people describe as “king-like”, Nyovest kept his promise.

Since Nyovest’s #FillUpTheDome concert in 2015, attendance has tripled and increased by a staggering 26 000 people. Now bigger, and better.

The lines for sponsorship of the concert were thin, as communicated by Nyovest months prior to the event – however, we have to hand it to him for managing to get Standard Bank to support an event on FNB turf.
5. Industry support
The immense support from fellow artists in the industry such as Ricky Rick and Gemini Major and government officials such as the Minister of Arts & Culture Nathi Mthethwa and Minister of Police Fikile Mbalula and 68 000 fans filling up the FNB Stadium.
