JR’s Feel Good Live Sessions takes the stage online

The best place to really enjoy South African music is undoubtedly online now. The move by musicians to online platforms is becoming an unstoppable trend on the local music and the latest proof  is the Feel Good Live Sessions.

This initiative was started by multi-faceted musician JR Bogopa, who’s already invited Kly, Shekhinah, Reason, Kwesta and Donald to grace the stage so far. The freedom of online platforms allow artists to be themselves, improvise and not worry about any form of censorship while they do their thing. It’s the perfect way for household names to connect with their audience. The concept involves artists doing renditions of their best songs with the backing of a live band. The high quality offerings have got the attention of audiences and the numbers for these weekly offerings are surely set to increase.

The first two iterations of the concept see JR himself performing acoustic versions of tracks including Four4 as well as features ranging from Deny with Anatii, the smash hit Way Up from Dj Dimplez and AKA’s All Eyes On Me. JR giving a backstory on how these songs came about makes for a really rewarding show.

Donald provided a smooth set which included his latest single with Tiwa Savage titled Raindrops. He’s also joined on stage by DreamTeam’s SASO to perform Standing Ovation. This setup was made for the RnB crooner, who doesn’t disappoint as usual.

Kwesta talks us through what inspired tracks like Mmino and Nomayini, before giving the audience a chance to take in Tabsie’s infectious vocals on her track Cry. The two then combine to close the show with the heartfelt Ngiyaz’fela Ngawe.

Reason performs tracks off his upcoming album titled Girls. The single Celebrity sounds amazing live along with the catchy All The Time, which is fantastically led by Magichands and Shox on the keys and bass respectively.

Shekhinah opens her set by covering Snoop Dogg’s Gin and Juice before adorning the crowd with her sultry vocals on Black Coffee’s Your Eyes and Dj Sliqe’s On It. To wrap up, she’s joined by former Jamali star Mariechan who helps her perform Different in a stunning duet.

Kly proves why his name is an acronym for Keep Love Young as Ambitiouz Entertainment’s new signee dishes up some Trap Soul with renditions of Snap Dat Sh*t, the Riky Rick featuring Too Much and Scrrr Pull Up taken off his Klymax Reup EP.
